UN Resident Coordinator Sheri Ritsema Anderson visited the Arab Renaissance for Democracy & Development (ARDD) and met with the Jordan National NGO Forum (JONAF) steering committee. The meeting covered topics such as localization, the status of national civil society, updates on the humanitarian and development sectors in Jordan, and the importance of building durable partnerships for transformational change.
During the meeting, representatives from JONAF, the leading national coalition of civil society organizations in Jordan, stressed the critical role of local organizations in the fabric of society. They highlighted the need to counter the marginalization of these organizations from decision-making circles and development efforts.
The discussion offered valuable insights into the needs of the sector and outlined a framework for collaboration among local organizations, UN agencies, government, and international stakeholders to address the needs of vulnerable and host communities in Jordan.
