As part of its ongoing efforts to address challenges faced by entrepreneurs from the local community and refugee populations, the Arab Renaissance for Democracy and Development (ARDD), in collaboration with the National NGOs Forum (JONAF), held the second edition of the “Season’s Market – Ramadan Bazaar.” The event took place on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Manara Arts and Culture in Jabal Al-Luweibdeh, Amman.
This second installment of the “Season’s Market” series is part of JONAF and ARDD’s advocacy initiatives under the “Future Forward: Unlocking Sustainable Local Opportunities” project, supported by the European Regional Development and Protection Program for Jordan and Lebanon. The bazaar provided a platform for local entrepreneurs to showcase their innovative products and connect with representatives from civil society, the private sector, and international organizations.
Featuring a diverse range of handmade products—from artwork and accessories to clothing, organic soaps, and home-cooked foods—the bazaar celebrated the creative spirit of both refugees and Jordanians. Attendees also enjoyed recreational activities for children of all ages and backgrounds, making the event an inclusive and family-friendly gathering.
The bazaar served as an opportunity for small business owners and artisans to present and sell their products while shedding light on local livelihood initiatives and the obstacles they face. By identifying these challenges, ARDD and JONAF aim to develop a robust advocacy strategy that promotes the localization of humanitarian work, particularly in the livelihoods sector, and underscores its significance in empowering underserved communities and fostering sustainable economic growth.
Leading up to the “Season’s Market” bazaars, participating entrepreneurs and artisans attended tailored training workshops focused on product development, marketing, and business management. These sessions addressed key topics such as best practices in marketing and sales, customer experience management, brand design, and leveraging various platforms to promote small businesses.
In line with their commitment to strengthening humanitarian and development efforts in Jordan, ARDD and JONAF continue to advocate for policies and legislative frameworks that address the needs of underserved Jordanians and refugees of diverse nationalities. These efforts align with Jordan’s unique socio-economic context and contribute to sustainable development across the Kingdom.
The bazaar attracted a significant turnout, including members of the general public, representatives from international organizations and embassies, and local community members. Participants expressed appreciation for the opportunity to expand their market reach and enhance their businesses. They described the event as “a valuable networking platform that introduced them to different products, fostering both competition and creativity.” Many also highlighted the seamless organization and welcoming atmosphere, which created a unique space for showcasing their products and engaging with customers.
To further support entrepreneurial initiatives, it is essential to explore local opportunities for livelihood projects and implement strategic solutions that empower both local and refugee entrepreneurs to establish and expand their businesses in Jordan. Encouraging the growth of emerging ventures, alongside capacity-building efforts for young entrepreneurs, is crucial for driving sustainable economic progress and strengthening the local market.
