At a time when the region is witnessing ideological tensions, political conflicts, and biases towards sub-identities over the collective identity, many people have grown increasingly hopeless about the usefulness of believing in the Arab Renaissance.

In response to this growing feeling among several segments of society, whether specialists or youth, the Arab Renaissance for Democracy and Development (ARDD) decided to hold a conference titled: “Renewal of the Civilizational Message”

The conference addressed the Renaissance from several social, political, and civilizational aspects, and discussed the relationship between the Renaissance and religion and other profound concepts that were addressed by an elite group of thinkers, specialists, and thought leaders, including the late Muhammad Shahrour, the late Hassan Hanafi, Ali Oumlil, Hassan Nafaa, Abdullah Al-Sayyid Ould Abah, Majida Al-Sanousi and Muhammad Hassas. It was decided to publish these valuable lectures in this book.

The book sheds light on several strategies to emerge from the crises of the identity model, the nation-state model, the power-building model, and other basic topics based on a human dimension that transcends nationalist or chauvinistic statements, and explores the horizons leading to radical changes on the path of renaissance.
